Uniform Dress Code

At Copper Ridge School we “Dress the Part”. Students are here for their personal and academic successes and are expected to dress as such.

Our expectation is that students will be in uniform at all times. This includes wearing proper CRS Identification. Uniforms are expected to be the proper fit and size for the student. Garments must be worn right side out at all times. No garments may be decorated w/ rhinestones, sequins, lace, embroidery, or any other decorative material. Copper Ridge School has a Uniform Dress Policy for kindergarten through eighth students. The Uniform Policy gives the school a positive and distinctive identity and reflects the values of the school and community. Students are required to conform to the Uniform Policy each day.

I. Uniform Requirements and Guidelines

A. Uniform Requirements: Kindergarten through eighth grade students are restricted to the clothing outlined in this pamphlet. Immodest or distracting dress or appearance of any type is not permitted . This is not confined to clothing, but also includes fads in hairstyle, makeup or other distractions that would, in the opinion of the Principal or Assistant Principal, tend to promote student disruption, jeopardize student conduct or otherwise interfere with the educational process. Clothing or appearance will be considered inappropriate if, in the judgment of the Principal or Assistant Principal, it presents a risk to the health, safety or general welfare of the students, staff or others by the following:

Interfered w. or disrupt the educational environment or process:
Is counterproductive to the curriculum goals or educational objectives;
Produces disorder or creates an atmosphere of threat, intimidation or undue pressure; or
Causes excessive wear or damage to school property.

II. Interpretation & Violations (Uniform Policy)

A. Interpretation: CRS Administration of teachers may question the dress of any student. The CRS Principal & Assistant Principal will have complete and final judgement on all matters concerning interpretation of the standard of dress policy. Matters of concerning appearance and dress not specifically covered in the standard dress guidelines shall be within the discretion of the Principal or Assistant Principal. (Reference Uniform Code of Student Conduct) as follows:

B. Consequences of Violation
First Violation:

Referral to the office (if necessary) to align clothing with the dress code as follows:
- Change into clothing that may be provided by the school in available;
- Have other clothes brought to school; or
- Remove the accessory or article of clothing in violation.

Second Violation:

Same as first violation w/ additional communication home in order to ensure appropriate clothing is worn.

Third Violation:

The student may receive a SUSD Conduct Referral citing student insubordination w/ respect to the dress code compliance. Behavior intervention may include daily check-in w/ administration.

Further Violations:

Could result in more sever disciplinary procedures, including suspension, in accordance with any other provision of Article B of the Uniform Code of School Conduct that is violated as a result of the dress code infraction.

Shirts

Shirts must be solid in color & collared w/ no logos, graphics or writing. They may be white, black, light blue or navy. They may be long, short or mid-sleeved. No garments without sleeves or a w/ a hood are permitted. Shirts must be appropriate length and meet SUSD dress code.

Pants, Capris & Shorts

Pants, Capris & Shorts must be solid in black, khaki or navy w/ no logos, graphic writing or rips/holes. Shorts must be worn three inches above the knee or longer. Sweatpants & joggers are not acceptable attire. With exception to the CRPTO black Copper Ridge jogger.

Jumpers, Dresses, Skorts & Skirts

Jumpers, Dresses, Skorts & Skirts must be solid in black, khaki or navy w/ no logos, graphics or writing. All must be worn three inches above the knee or longer. Socks must be solid in black, white or navy w/ no logos, graphics or writing, unless they are CRPTO socks.

Jackets, Sweaters, Sweatshirts, Vests & Blazers

Jackets, Sweaters, Sweatshirts, Vests & Blazers must be solid in color w/ no logos, graphics, or writing. They may be white, black, light blue or navy. No garments with a hood are permitted. A collared shirt that meets the uniform must still be worn under jack- ets, sweaters, sweatshirts & blazers at all times.

Shoes

All shoes must be closed toed. Crocs, Uggs, and slippers are not permitted.

Accessories

All accessories must be solid in color with no logos. Accessories may be black, white light blue or navy. No hats. Accessories that are deemed distracting to the learning environment are permitted.

Leggings & Tights

Leggings & Tights must be solid black, white, navy or khaki w/ no logos, graphics or writing. They may be worn under skirts, dresses & jumpers only.

Official CRS Spirit Wear

Official CRS Spirit Wear tops & bottoms are allowed to be worn on Fridays only.

Official CRS Spirit Jackets & Accessories are permitted everyday on campus; however, hats are not permitted indoors.

The ONLY acceptable plaid skirt options are available on frenchtoast.com on the Copper Ridge store front ONLY. Any other style of plaid skirts are unacceptable.
